Are you a diehard Harry Potter fan who has always wanted your own wand?
Here is how to make one very easily with things you could easily buy at a utility store, and wood from around your home.
Note: Make sure the wood is dead and dry before beginning. Do not use fresh wood, as it will make your wand sticky and will make the chiseling difficult due to the sap.
You will need a medium grain sander (or sandpaper), a fine grain sander (or sandpaper), a chisel, a mallet, and wood stain (optional).
1. Find a large branch with smaller twigs branching off of it. Remove one of the smaller branches (should be around 14" long and 3/4in. in diameter) and take off the bark.
2. Use the chisel to remove any unwanted layers of wood (should leave your wand about 1/2in. in diameter).
3. Use the medium grain sander to sand down the wood into the desired size and shape (make the tip slightly pointed with a rounded edge, should be around 2/5in. in diameter near the end.
4. Use the fine grain sander to soften the wood
5. Optional: You can use the wood stain of your choice (I used a wood stain called English Oak) to give your wood a nice color
6. If you want to further improve your wand, coat it in a layer of varnish, let it dry, use the fine grain sander to remove the top layer, add another coat, and repeat until you are satisfied.
Thank you for reading, and I hope you enjoy your wand!
